Food was good far greater then expected. But the chicken fried steak and gravy was so amazing! Also ate the fish and chips and those were super good, just forgot to take a pic. Quick service as well. Bacon cheese burger was juicy as well. Didn't take a pic of that either. I'd definitely go back just to grab a pie though. It was all so good.
I had a taco salad that was big enough for 3 meals and I eat pretty good. Should have taken a picture. It was ridiculously huge. Good value at the Bear 🐻 pretty consistently good there 👍

My server was Daisy and she did a great job. I have 3 boys and 1of my boys commented that she was cool. He mentioned that within the first 20 minutes of being there. My youngest was having a birthday and she took care of everything and didn’t need to be reminded. She came around enough to take care of our needs but not to much to bug us. Bottom line Daisy was Awesome. She was fun and attentive. I wish more servers would have this level of customer service. We will be back because of her. Thank you very much.
Big Juicy burgers and fries! With a Orange juice Mimosa.. Service was ok. They gave me a Bacon & Chedder burger, the wrong burger but it looked good! The California Burger I ordered was good, very filling. Great prices for amount of Good food.
A nice place to take your family. We went on the weekend so it was busy but the servers were very attentive, friendly and quick. I really appreciate their warmth and service. The food was good but the gravy is much too salty for my taste. Everything else was divine.
When my family visits from out of town I always bring them here. Food is amazing always, fresh and delicious. Portions are worth the price and you leave sometimes with more food for later. Kids menu and price is great, mi 4year old loves it. Great family friendly experience.
We had such a great experience tonight at Black Bear Diner in Modesto. I had placed an online order and already paid with my Visa, but when I arrived to pick it up, I asked if it would be possible to switch the payment to some Bear Cash coupons I had. Not only were they willing to help, but they went above and beyond. They refunded my credit card and allowed me to use the Bear Cash — even though the coupons were from a different location and technically expired. That level of flexibility and customer care really stood out to me. The manager on duty and the team member who first helped me were incredibly courteous and friendly. Even though my request could have been frustrating or inconvenient, they never made me feel that way. They just took great care of me with a positive attitude the entire time. And the food was excellent! We ordered the tri-tip dinner, shared it, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We’ll definitely be back — and next time we’ll be paying with actual money! 😊 Highly recommend this location for both the service and the food.
I don’t normally write reviews but I came in the other night with my daughters and we had such a great experience! I can’t remember our servers name she was a young girl but she was very personable to myself and my children and was very warm every time she checked in on us. I got the chicken Caesar melt and it came out quick and was also so delicious my children kept taking bites of it LOL. All around a very enjoyable experience with the staff and the food itself, we are new to the area and I can see myself coming back based on this experience alone. It’s so hard to find chain restaurants that capture that small town friendly atmosphere but this Black Bear location hits the mark!
Went here for my brother's 68th birthday celebration. The staff was great and very accommodating for our large party of about 20 people. Themselves got in the spirit of celebration along with us and his church family. A good time was had by all, even the waitstaff.
